Our Mission

The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families in the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child and to provide information to help others be supportive. We offer friendship and understanding to families who are grieving the death of a child of any age, from any cause. All bereaved family members are welcome. For more about our aims, please click here.

Our Credo - "We need not walk alone."

The Credo is said at gatherings of The Compassionate Friends to affirm who we are and what we are doing. There is a credo for meetings of parents and another for meetings of siblings. For more about our credo, please click here.

Our Organisation

The Bereaved Parent Centre in Sydney is staffed daily by volunteers who are bereaved parents, and there is a network of support groups throughout the state. For more about how TCF NSW is organised, please click here.

The Value of Peer Support

The Compassionate Friends of New South Wales invites helping agencies and professionals to refer their clients who have suffered the death of a child or a sibling to our organisation. The support we offer on a one-to-one basis or in small group sessions can complement services that the bereaved person may be receiving from other sources. Research has shown that peer support groups are of great value to persons who have experienced loss since they offer a safe place for the bereaved to talk through their grief with other individuals who have had similar experiences.

To be held at the Parramatta Library on Saturday March 24 from 1pm to 3pm. Please call the Centre on 9290 2355 for details.
